According to a news agency, the council includes the appointment of Ghassan Karim as chairman, Ahmed Ragheb Agha and Muhammad Basil Radwan Samaqia as deputy heads, and Wael Khair al-Nen as executive director.
The formation of the council coincides with the first official visit to Egypt by Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani, as stated by reports.
Officials say the move is part of broader efforts to enhance Syria’s economic partnerships, following a series of similar initiatives aimed at strengthening cooperation with other countries.
Earlier, Syria also establishes joint business councils with Spain, Kuwait, and the Netherlands as part of efforts to support private sector participation in economic development and expand international trade links.
In a previous meeting, Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa meets a delegation from the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce in Damascus, describing the Syria–Egypt relationship as a necessity rather than an option, according to reports.
